God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So your new life should be like this: Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient.
Be wise in the way you act with those who are not believers. Use your time in the best way you can. When you talk, you should always be kind and wise. Then you will be able to answer everyone in the way you should.
But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person's life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these kinds of things.
"You must not hate your people in your heart. If your neighbors do something wrong, you correct them, but don't hold a grudge against them! Forget about the wrong things people do to you. Don't try to get even. Love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
Continue loving each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. Always remember to help people by welcoming them into your home. Some people have done that and have helped angels without knowing it.
"This is what the Lord All-Powerful said: 'You must do what is right and fair. You must be kind and show mercy to each other. Don't hurt widows and orphans, strangers, or poor people. Don't even think of doing bad things to each other!'"
